Dr Kalam was a recipient of several prestigious awards. He was awarded India’s highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratna’. He was the first Asian to be bestowed with Hoover Medal Top Engineering Prize, by America, for his outstanding contribution to public service on April 29, 2009.
